I split my time between office work in in Denmark and a quieter obsession: photographing the corners of Japan most people never see. I picked up a second-hand Sony A7 IV, before my first trip there and never really put it down again — though I now upgraded to a Sony A7R5.
There is something about the sight of endless rice terraces, empty train platforms, shrines and temples filled with history and Japans small rituals of daily life that just kept pulling me back.
A few years ago I started learning Japanese, partly to travel better, partly because I like the idea of eventually owning a small place there myself.
I've been to Japan three times now, and I'm working through it one prefecture at a time — 16 of 47 so far. My photos are my record of the corners of a country most people pass through without stopping.
